Virgil Kelly “Red” Clark, Jr., 91, passed away on January 8, 2015, in Excelsior Springs, MO. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Monday, January 12, 2015, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Indep., MO. Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
He was born on August 31, 1923, in Hale, MO. He served in the US Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. After his service, he worked for Maytag as a repairman, and retired after 38 ½ years in 1987.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil K. Clark, Sr. & Opal I. (Cowan) Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vera; their daughter, Sandra J. (Clark) Garrett, her husband, Gordon, and their family: son, Matthew (Kim) Garrett, and their children, Noli, Holly, & Cami, son, Benjamin Garrett and his daughter, Devyn, and daughter Julie Garrett; son, Bruce K. Clark and his wife, Barbara, and their family: daughter, Kelly (Clark) Pope and her husband, Jeremy, and their children, Thomas and Hannah, son, Brennan Clark and his daughter Beretta, and son Travis and his wife Brenda.
