William R. “Bill” Clark, 83, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021.
Bill was born on February 20, 1938 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Edwin and Genevieve (Rudd) Clark, the youngest of five children.
After graduating from William Chrisman High School, Bill enlisted in the Select Service and also started his career at AT&T, where he worked for 33 years before retiring, then he continued to work for the IRS for an additional 20 years.
In 1964, Bill met the love of his life and his very best friend while both participated in a bowling league; and on May 8, 1965, Bill and Carolyn O’Connell were joined in marriage. From this union came four children.
Bill was a dedicated father and husband who enjoyed many northern vacations with Carolyn and the children. He and Carolyn spent many years landscaping and gardening around their home. He also coached and attended countless kid's and grandkid's baseball and soccer games. Cookies, travel adventures with Carolyn and watching professional KC sports filled many of his retirement years. Always supportive, kind and compassionate, he was a positive influence to all that knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Clark; children, Rhonda (Oscar) Renfrow, Tim Clark, Dan (Paula) Heaviland, Cam Clark; grandchildren, Quincy (Amy), Michael (Kelsey), Lauren, Alexander, Jacqueline (John); great grandchildren, Abby, Shaine, Corby, and Kenzy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Genevieve Clark; and his four siblings, Mary Jo Todd, James Clark, Thomas Clark and Ann Breuer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place Friday, December 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., both to take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055. Interment will follow directly after service and he will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, Missouri.
