Ethel E. “Sadie” Clem, 89, Independence, MO passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
Sadie was born July 17, 1923 in Ft. Scott, KS the daughter of Lloyd and Fern (Swank) Blake. She graduated with a nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Ft. Scott. Sadie moved to the Independence area in 1962 with her family and began working at St. Joseph Hospital and retired from Research in 1985. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church of the Nazarene. Sadie enjoyed cross stitching, reading and baking Christmas goodies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clem in 1999; five sisters; one brother; and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Clem; son, Doug Clem and wife Mabeth; granddaughter, Deanna Clem; sister, Reta Ensminger; and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
