Sharon Marie (Hetrick) Clothier, of Independence, passed away in her home on Jan. 22, 2018 at the age of 78. She will be buried next to her husband, Robert, in a private ceremony on Friday.
Sharon was born in East Los Angeles, CA, on May 14, 1939, and grew up in the Los Angeles area. She attended Graceland College, in Lamoni, IA, where she met her husband. She is survived by her brother Raymond Hetrick and his spouse Julie, of Mohave Valley, AZ, and by her three children and their families: Russell and his spouse Ann and son Layne, of Kansas City; Raymond and his spouse Darby and children Chandler and Elena, of Lewiston, ME; and Julie Bover and her spouse Mike, and their children Kaitlyn and Hannah, of Independence.
Sharon was a positive and gracious woman who devoted her life to the well-being of others. Her passions included music and gardening, travel, reading, family, and a good cup of tea. She was a committed person of faith, and a servant leader in numerous ministries of the Community of Christ church. She was an accomplished singer, and sang in the Messiah Choir for 30 years.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday Jan. 25 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A public memorial service will begin at 10 am Saturday Jan. 27 at the Beacon Heights Community of Christ Church, 19402 E. Holke Rd., in Independence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Peace Pavilion, 1001 W. Walnut, Independence MO 64050.
