Doris Jane Clubb, 74, a beloved grandmother (Ma), mother and wife, of Independence, MO was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Doris was born on February 4, 1947, in Independence, MO, to Gladys (Murry) and Edwin Harter, Sr. Shortly after graduating from William Chrisman High School, in 1965, she met the love of her life, Charley and the two were married on June 29, 1968. Doris worked as an administrative assistant for over 50 years and is loved by many former co-workers and was often referred to, by her long-time boss and dear friend, Gary, as “his right-hand man”. Doris retired from the Independence School District in 2017.
Doris was a devout follower of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of the East Side Church, in Independence. Doris was the kindest, most loving and proud mother and grandmother. Nothing gave her more pleasure in life, than spending time with her grandchildren. She most loved spending Christmases together as a family in her and Charley’s log cabin in the woods.
Doris was a fabulous seamstress and basket maker, and spent many weekends at craft shows selling her beautiful, home-made items with her dear friend and fellow crafter, Terry. At the end of the year, any items she didn’t sell, she offered up to her daughter-in-laws and grandchildren, and was lovingly called, “The Doris Store”.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and sister Patsy. She is survived by her grandchildren, Preston, Jordan, Kirsten, Logan, Morgan and Clayton; her devoted husband, Charley and their two sons, Travis (Lynne Lamy), of Springfield, MO and Tyler (Jamie) of Oak Grove, MO. Her three brothers, Edwin, Jr., of Warsaw, MO; David of Independence, MO and Larry, of Warsaw, MO, as well as, many treasured family members and friends.
Doris was truly a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be missed my numerous family members and friends, and also by those that were part of Doris and Charley’s friend group, referred to as, “The Big 8”. Her memory will forever be etched into our hearts.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 27, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28th at 10:00am at Carson-Speaks, interment to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO.
