James "Wally" Cochran

James “Wally” Cochran, a man of faith, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 1, 2021 with family by his side. He was 91. Wally was born to James and Alita Cochran on October 13, 1929 in Independence, Missouri.
On May 18, 1948 Wally married the love of his life, Sarah and they spent the next 65 years creating a life together. Wally was a hard worker. He held positions at several Oldsmobile dealerships in his younger days, was a mail carrier for the USPS for over 30 years and worked as an associate for Speaks Funeral Home for 21 years as well. Wally truly loved the lord and was not only a member but a Minister for the RLDS church. He was loved and respected by many people, more than he ever realized and will be missed greatly.
Wally is survived by his sons, David Cochran (Penny), Tim Cochran (Debby) and Mike Cochran (Donita); daughter, Annie Carriker (Neil); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah; son, Christopher Cochran and grandson, Aaron.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 9-10am at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Funeral service will be at 10am with burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s or the Shriners Society in memory of Wally.
