RICHARD C. "DICK� COCHRAN
Richard C. "Dick� Cochran, 81, Blue Springs, MO, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Cochran was born on September 8, 1923, Independence, MO and was the second of three sons born to Theresa (Chapman) and James Wallace Cochran. He also had two half brothers, born to his father and his father�s second wife. Mr. Cochran was raised from age three, following his mother�s death, by his aunt and uncle, Minnie and Charles Chapman. Richard graduated from William Chrisman High School prior to enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He served in Europe during WWII as a P-51 fighter pilot with the 8th Air Force. He later served with the U.S. Army of Occupation in Germany. Following his service he attended Graceland College and graduated from the University of Kansas, with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Mr. Cochran and his wife Marjorie Anna (Sintz) made their home in Independence; the Dayton, OH, area; and more recently in Blue Springs, MO. Dick and Marge moved to the Dayton, OH, area where Dick worked first for Frigidaire and later, for the Defense Department at Wright-Patterson AFB. Richard was an ordained minister for the Community of Christ Church and served as pastor (Beavercreek Ohio Congregation) and District President in Southwest Ohio. Following retirement he enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary�s Hospital in Blue Springs. Richard�s survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marjorie, and their two daughters, C. Diane Dickson, Martinez, CA, and Jacqueline Bell, Blue Springs MO; three grandchildren, Kristina Joanne Taylor, and Mathew David and Sarah Diane Dickson; two great-grandchildren, T.J. and Jacque Victoria Taylor; three brothers, John W. Chapman, Wallace Cochran and Roger Cochran, all of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Visitation will be at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 39th St. and 291 Hwy, at 9:00 am, Tuesday, June 21, to followed at 10:00 am by a memorial service. There will be a graveside service at Mound Grove Cemetery following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the memory of Richard to Kansas City Hospice (9221 Ward Pkwy, Ste. 100, Kansas City, MO) or to Outreach International (129 W. Lexington, Independence, MO).
