Andy Collins, 89, of Independence passed away June 9, 2014. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, June 13, 2014, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A Visitation will take place from 6 - 8 pm, June 12, at the chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Andy was born on February 13, 1925 to William and India (Acree) Collins in Maynard, Arkansas. Andy was a Navy Veteran of WWII, and a member of the VFW Post 1738. He worked for over 30 years with the Bendix Corp. before he retired. Andy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking. Family and friends were the proud owners of many of his projects. Andy is survived by; son, Robert Collins (Darlene); daughters, Kathrine Lamison (Chuck) and Jo Fenstermaker; brothers, J.R. Collins and William Collins; sister, Yleeta Schermesser (Welbon); 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Andy is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Agnes “Nessie” (Green) Collins; his parents; sisters, Sara Coomer, Maudina Smith; and brothers, Norman and Claude Collins.
