Ruth Colvin

Ruth M. Colvin, 91, of Independence, MO, passed away on May 1, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-4 pm, May 4, 2014. The Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Monday, May 5. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Ruth was born on September 3, 1922 in Ashland, MO, to Oakley and Clare (Rippeto) Wren. She was a long time member of Maywood Baptist Church. As a young lady in high school, she excelled on the basketball court, playing the position of center. After meeting the love of her life while on a community picnic, she married Julius. She enjoyed traveling around the country with him while he was in the Army, serving as a Medic. She later worked for Russell Stovers and Sears. But perhaps her greatest joy was that of her home and family. Ruth is survived by her husband of 71 years, Julius; sister, Mabel Bledsoe; children, Janice Benedict (Larry), Jeanette Frechin ( Ed), Judy Fisher, Jimmy (Scheryl) Colvin, Jeffrey (Patty) Colvin; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
