Sheilah Elizabeth Combs, 63, passed away on July 29, 2020 in Independence, MO.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 4-7pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence.
Sheilah was born on January 27, 1957 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Bud & Berniece (Casey) Vest. She graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1975 and began her 40+ year career in customer service. She worked for BMA for 20 years, and then for Kansas City Life Insurance Company as a senior customer service representative for 21 years. For the past decade, she had also worked part-time at Lunar Bowl. Sheilah married Ron Combs on March 27, 1991 – together they spent 32 years making many wonderful memories. Together, they were on a bowling league called the “Moon Shadow Mixers.” She celebrated her highest score at 299. They loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and held season tickets for over 30 years. They liked to travel. Special experiences included a trip to Texas, Las Vegas, California, and several trips to Branson with her grandkids, but her favorites were her trips to Mexico. Sheilah loved everyone unconditionally – she put others first and had a huge heart. She will be dearly missed by so many.
Survivors include her husband Ron; children Ron Jr. (wife Dawne), Angie Combs, Janet Jackson (husband JuJuan), and Melissa Riggle (husband Brian); grandchildren Caylee, Kyle, Shaniah, Chris, Rorey, Quan, Lexie, Dakota, Kaleb, JuRyah, Marisa, Tyler, and JJ; three great-grandchildren; twin sister Shelly Jones (husband Perry); brother Richard Lawhorn (wife Johnnie); and many extended family and friends.
