WILLIAM COMBS, SR.
William Jay Combs, Sr., 74 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, August 17th 2013. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd 2013 at Carson Speaks Chapel; 1501 W Lexington Ave. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 23rd at the chapel. Burial at Lobb Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Bill was born July 29th 1939 in Kansas City, MO to James Nathan and Mildred Roxcine (Warren) Combs as one of two children. He attended William Chrisman High School. Bill married Glenda (Mosley) on July 3rd 1960 in Independence. He worked for over 41 years as a cement truck driver for BotsFord Ready Mix, later LeFarge, retiring in 1999. Bill was a devoted member and Trustee for Eagles Club 385. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mechanic work on his cars and mowers. Bill is described as loving caring and protective of his family. He is loved and will be missed.
Bill is survived by wife, Glenda; daughter, Sherrie Lynn Combs (David Blystone); and son, William Jay Combs, Jr., all of Independence; seven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Combs, Jr. The family encourages contributions to American Cancer Society; 1100 Pennsylvania, Kansas City, MO 64105.
