Connie Faye Farris of Independence, Missouri passed away on July 20, 2024.
Connie was born on January 4, 1948 in Carrollton, Missouri to William L. Potter and Margaret (Davis) Potter. Connie spent her early years growing up in Bosworth, Missouri where she cherished her time with her large extended family and benefited from the influence of her grandparents Kermit and Mazie Davis. She was very proud of her roots and family in the Bosworth area that she affectionately called “Down Home.” Throughout her elementary school years, she called many cities home as her family moved throughout the midwest while her father worked as a pipeliner. Eventually, her family settled in Independence, Missouri where she attended junior high and high school, graduating from William Chrisman, class of 1966. That same year, on January 8, she married John Robert Farris, embracing her new role as mom to John Patrick Farris who she lovingly adopted as her own. Connie enjoyed building a home for their sweet family of three. Although doctors said it would not be so, she never gave up her dream to grow their family. After eleven years of marriage, a baby girl was born - Melissa Faye (Farris) Glasco. Very soon after, Connie was surprised to learn she was again expecting, and Bradley Laird Farris was born nineteen months after Melissa.
Connie was a homemaker who was creative in the ways she earned “spending money” that she never spent on herself. She cleaned houses, ironed clothes, and she even raised canaries for a short time, which was as much for the adventure and learning experience as it was to earn money.
Connie’s culinary skills were unmatched. She loved procuring recipes, grocery shopping, preparing, cooking, and serving a made-from-scratch, delicious meal almost every evening.
Connie was known for her quick wit, fun sense of humor, beautiful smile, and friendly personality. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She dedicated her life to her family, always placing their needs above her own. Her unwavering support and boundless love will be deeply missed.
Connie is survived by John R. Farris, her loving husband of 58 years; son John P. Farris of North Kansas City, Missouri; daughter Melissa (Benjamin) Glasco of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; son Bradley (Christina) Farris of Independence, Missouri; and brother Billy Potter of Breckenridge, Missouri. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Emilie (Farris) Anderson (Braden); Annie and Samuel Glasco, and Andrew and Jamie Farris. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Potter and grandson John P. Farris II.
