Constance Ann “Connie” Black passed away peacefully at her home in Independence, Missouri at the age of 81, two days short of her 82nd birthday. She was born in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Howard and Marcella (Bucknell) Bennett, which preceded her in death also her brother, Ronnie. She lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota during her high school years and attended Washington High. She was married to Jim Black for 62 years and from this marriage they had 4 children, Joe (Amy), Paul (Robert), Todd (Vivian), Becky (David) and 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Connie is survived by all of the above and her sister, Bonnie (John) Messerli and her brother-in-law John Olson. She had many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Connie and Jim moved their family to Independence, Missouri in April of 68. She had a green thumb for flowering and gardening. She enjoyed crocheting, word search books, coloring and playing Solitaire taught by her dad and they both cheated to win. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan for 16 years and never missed a home game (she loved to tailgate). She was a fantastic cook and had a soft spot for all animals, especially her cats and dogs but more than anything her love for her family.
She will be greatly missed.
Connie will lay in rest in Calvery Cemetery in Mitchell, S.D.
