Consuelo Flores Turner, known affectionately as "Connie" and "Gladys," was a beloved matriarch and entrepreneurial spirit, who passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, in Independence, Missouri. Born on May 16, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas to Pete and Paula (De La Fuentes) Flores, Connie was a beacon of love, warmth, and resilience throughout her life.
Connie's journey began with a determination to succeed. She completed her GED and went on to obtain her cosmetology license, channeling her passion into founding Connie's Tease Salon, where she worked tirelessly up until her passing. Her dedication to her craft exemplified her strong work ethic and the commitment she had to provide for her family.
A true family woman, Connie cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She eagerly looked forward to weekends filled with laughter and joy as her grandkids and great-grandkids came over for sleepovers. She would often cook special treats and meals for them, which became cherished traditions, along with watching cartoons and playing around with them, that filled her weekends with memories she would treasure forever.
Connie was also a woman of deep faith who loved praise and worship. A member of Engelwood Assembly of God, she could often be found reading the Bible and sharing its stories with those around her. Her spirit was characterized by an infectious love and unwavering support for her family, including her sons, Paul Vasquez, Rene Vasquez, and Eric Nunez; grandchildren, Kese (Ashley) Nunez, Jaxson Nunez, Seth Nunez, Evan Nunez, and Benjamin Nunez; great-grandchildren, Sadie Nunez, Kallie Nunez, and Caden Nunez; siblings, Pete (Ella) Flores, Mary Jane (Kenneth) Zimmerman, and Daniel Flores; and her best friend, Graciela Flores.
