Kathleen R. “Kathy” Cook, 64 of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, July 25, 2014 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 4900 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Prairie City, MO. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or to Vitas Hospice. Kathy was born August 10, 1949 in Butler, MO to Gilbert and Leola (Hammer) Jagels. She spent her early life on a farm near Rich Hill, MO and graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1967. She had worked at the Social Security Administration for 35 years until she retired in 2004 as a supervisor. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild. She is survived by her loving husband of over 45 years, Bill Cook of Independence, MO; two daughters, Dawn Tillman and her husband John of Independence, MO and Dana Zevecke and her husband Jerry of Vermillion, SD; her mother, Leola Jagels of Appleton City, MO; 2 two sisters, Carol Fridley of Kansas City, MO, and Kim Traw of Cedar Falls, IA; a brother, Michael Jagels of Oak Grove, MO; and three grandchildren, Madelyn, Jaden Rose and Ian.
