Lisa Marie Cook, 62, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in her home. A rosary will be held on Sunday, September 9th at 6:00pm with a visitation following until 8:00pm both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. A mass of Christian burial will take place Monday, September 10th at 10:00am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd. Independence, MO 64055.
Lisa was born November 7, 1955, in Albuquerque, NM to Harvey and Eleanor (Carmer) Miller. While teaching in Germany, she met a fellow Albuquerque native and began a love story with Gregory Cook. Over the years, many memories were made traveling and being with her sister, attending Broadway musicals and unforgettable trips to Disney. Lisa especially loved volunteering her time at Old Oak Tree and the Sunshine Center, cross-stitching, singing along to musicals with her family, and spending time with family and friends at the lake. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Greg; her daughters, Katelyn Cook (David) of Columbia, MD, and Amanda Cook of Lenexa, KS; her beloved puppy, Rex; her sister Ami DiGregorio (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM; her niece, Danielle Rodriquez (Ruben) of Albuquerque, NM; her in-laws, Ed and Gayle Cook of Bellingham, WA; brother-in-law, Gary Cook and his sons, Travis, Jake and Josh; and her sister-in-law Lynda Purdie (John) and their daughters, Michelle (Kolton) , Brianna and Marina.
