Gertrude "Ann" Cookston

Gertrude “Ann” Cookston, 77, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, July 8th, 2021. A memorial visitation will be held from 12-2:00pm, Saturday, July 17th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055.

Ann was born September 17th, 1943 in Kansas City, MO. She was employed as a desk clerk and then in records for the Independence Police Department from 1991 until 2005. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Vitas Hospice and at fundraising events for Independence City Retirees. Ann was also a long-time member of St. Mark Catholic Church.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband, George “Don” Cookston.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Daly of Kansas City and Edward Daly of Independence; granddaughter, Caitlyn Daly of Blue Springs; and her friend for 30 years, Susan (and husband, Steve) Skov, of Springfield, MO.
