Bernice Coon

Bernice Coon, age 98, passed away on June 23, 2007 at the Rehab Center of Independence. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Bernice was born on June 25, 1908 in Ava, MO. She was a long time member of Belvidere Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elwood Coon; one daughter, Vayda LaRose; and one son, Wayne Coon. The survivors include her daughter Bonnie Beth of Independence, MO; granddaughters, Marsha Phillips of Blue Springs, MO and Cathy Dennis of Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Steve Coon; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of wonderful friends and other family members. She will be missed by all.
