Betty Cooper, 90, of Kansas City, MO passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 peacefully at her home. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 26 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in the garden of Sacred Heart.
Betty was born on May 26, 1928 in Alton, MO to William and Glenna (Coble) Chapin. While working at the Oasis in Marshall Junction, she met her husband George Cooper. They were married on August 3, 1946 and had two children together. Betty worked as one of the first computer programmers at the Department of Agriculture and was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She had the gift of seeing beauty and loved walking in the woods, gardening, painting, sketching, and poetry. Mostly she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered by her son Dana Cooper and wife Linda Marks of Nashville, TN; daughter Mary Kennedy and husband Noel of Independence, MO; grandson Cormac Kennedy of Independence, MO; plus other extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings and her husband, George.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
