Gary Lee Cooper, 56, of Stockton, MO passed away unexpectantly August 1, 2018. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, August 6, 2018 at the chapel. Burial with full Military Honors will take place at 1 pm following services at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Gary was born on March 20, 1962 in St. Louis, MO to Wayne and Carole (Black) Cooper. He was a graduate of Lee’s Summit High School. After graduation Gary joined the United States Army where he proudly served until January 1984. He earned the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Marksman, Army Achievement Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster. After his discharge, Gary went to work for the family business, Mr. C’s Vacuums/FQ Distributors. For the past 18 years Gary was employed by Yellow Freight/YRc where he achieved 1,970,756 accident free miles. On July 28, 2018 he was united into marriage to Tammy Johnson Cooper. Gary was a member of the NRA and enjoyed target practicing and collecting guns. He also enjoyed Western movies, music of all kinds and the KC Chiefs. Gary was very proud of his country and always had a flag flying on his truck, he would have proudly rejoined the Army if he was younger. Survivors include; wife Tammy Cooper, son Kyle Cooper; grandson Drake Fleming; parents Wayne and Carole Cooper; step children Ashley Krei and her husband Andy; step son Lance Eastman and his wife Shelbi; stepdaughter Jaylee Johnson; step grandchildren Bentley, Avalyn, Austin and Ryder; his YRC family; a large extended family and many friends.
****On December 28, 2018 Gary was relocated to Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, NE to be closer to his wife Tammy.
