William Lee Cooper, 92 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050 with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Monday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. William was born July 14, 1930 in DeQueen, AR to Cecil W. and Hester (Morgan) Cooper and has been a longtime area resident. He had worked most of his life as a carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union local #1127 in Kansas City, MO. He had also worked as a grinder inspector. He enjoyed fixing things and working around the house, listening to country music, woodworking, playing Dominos, cards and eating out but, mainly spending time with his family. He is survived by; a son, Gregory L. Cooper and wife Janet of Belleaire, MD; 2 daughters, Pamela S. Jordan and husband William of Rayville, MO and Penni I. Hershberger of Independence, MO; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulah Irene in 2012, his parents, one brother, a sister and a grandchild, Tabitha Marie Jordan.
