Steven Ray Copenhaver, 53, of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday morning, April 9, 2010 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street S. Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. Steven was born November 7, 1956 in Independence, MO to Robert Leon and Juanita (Kuhn) Copenhaver. He grew up in Independence graduating from Fort Osage High School in 1975. He was a fun loving man who enjoyed reading, studying history and researching paranormal activity. He was a business analyst for the Kansas City Star for 32 years before he retired. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Cathy (Graham) of the home; 6 children, Emily Mackie of Greenwood, MO, Valerie Kindall of Raytown, MO, Steven Copenhaver of Raymore, MO, Audrey Copenhaver of Raytown, MO, Jenny Leskoff and Kristi Fowler both of Grain Valley, MO; his mother, Juanita Copenhaver of Liberty, MO; 2 brothers, Mike Copenhaver of San Antonio, TX and Bob Copenhaver of Liberty, MO; a sister, Pat Jackson of Pleasant Valley, MO; 8 grandchildren, Logan, Sydney, Mason, Carter, Hayden, Lily, Jackson and Parker and his ex-wife, Teri Campos of Kansas City, MO.
