Twila L. Corley, 91, of Lansing, KS passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Leavenworth. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Leavenworth Presbyterian Church, 407 Walnut Street with memorial services to begin at 11:00 a.m.
Twila was born November 1, 1930 in Henry County Missouri to Elmer and Melba (Hosterman) Summers. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1948 and in August of the same year married George Corley. Twila worked as a grocery checker at AP from the 1960s-1970s and then Knoepker’s in Independence. She spent the last ten years of her working career as an admissions clerk at the Truman Library and Museum. A faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Independence, and more recently Leavenworth Presbyterian Church, Twila served as deacon, trustee and a volunteer for the Logos Youth Program. In her spare time she enjoyed word games, crocheting, cooking and her 52 year membership in a monthly bingo club.
Twila is survived by her daughter Cathy Corley and grandson Jeff Corley. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1984, stepson, two brothers and one sister. Contributions may be made in Twila’s memory to Harvester’s or Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope.
