Neva Jane Cross Corum was born October 6, 1930 in Peek, Oklahoma, southwest of Woodward, Oklahoma, to William Henry Cross and Maude Ella Cross. She was the youngest of ten children - one treasured brother, "Junior" Cross, and eight half siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and her husband of fifty-nine years, Donald Lee Corum. Neva graduated from Stockton High School in Missouri and married Don Corum in 1949. Together they raised five children in Independence, Missouri. She dedicated her life to serving her family, friends and church family. She had a heart for helping the elderly and ministering to others during their time of need. Neva and Don were active members of Churches of Christ all their adult lives. Neva passed from this life surrounded by her loved ones on November 16, 2013, at age 83, and is now happily at work in her Father's Kingdom. She is survived by son Gary, and his wife, Diane, of Little Rock, Arkansas; daughter Linda Wheatley, of Springfield, Missouri; daughter Doneva Cooper, of La Porte, Texas; daughter Karen Corum Palermo, of Independence, Missouri; and son Dale, also of Independence; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m,, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
