Gene C. Cothran

Gene C. Cothran, 80, Kansas City, Mo. died Jan. 2, 2005 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be 2:30 pm, Thursday, Jan. 6 at Carson-Speaks Midtown Chapel; cremation. Visitation will be 1 - 2:30 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. Gene was born Dec. 25, 1924. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. He was a dispatcher for American Cab Co. for over fifty years and retired in 1994. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar. Gene was preceded in death by son Allen Leroy Cothran, daughter Nancy Ellen Cothran, brother Clyde Cothran and his mother Marie Simpson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty Louise Cothran, of the home; daughter Betty Gene Cosgrove, K.C., Mo; son Thomas Bert Cothran, Warsaw, Mo; daughter Linda Sue Shelton; son Gary Lee Cothran; son David Wayne Cothran, all of K.C., Mo; daughter Debra Lynn Yaeger, Tennessee; Karen Elaine Miranda, Ft. White, Fl; son Dennis Keith Cothran, K.C., Mo; nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
