Jim was born July 7, 1962, to Jimmy Dean and Barbara L. (Barr) Cottrell, in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim attended Truman High School and went on to Vocational in Auto Body Repairs, in Raytown Missouri. In 2000 Jim met Sandra Harris and fell fast in love and friendship. A year later they welcomed their son Blake into the world.
Jim was an amazing man, with talents exceeding many, you may find him re-roofing a house, or tending to his garden, many times you would find him whipping up a meal, for he was an excellent chef and enjoyed doing so. He had a passion for working on cars and was often the "go to guy" by friends and family who needed mechanical expertise. Jim was an avid lover of animals and if anyone was ever in need, he would be the first one there, more often never being asked. Classic rock was on his radio station and his son, Blake, was always in his heart. Jim was an outstanding father and thought the world of his son, Blake, knowing he would accomplish anything he set his mind to.
Jim will be missed by many and will always live on in the hearts and love of his family and friends. Many people were touched by Jim's generosity and commitment to help. He had a warm and loving spirit.
