John Lee Cottrell

John Cottrell, 68, of Independence, MO passed away December 5, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Sunday December 13, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. John was born January 27, 1947 in Smithers, West Virginia. John served for 4 years as a member of the United States Navy. He was a member and President of the United Steel Workers Union, Local 13 and a member of the Masonic Eastgate Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley; two daughters April Dawn Cottrell-Stansbury of Independence, Candice Pierceall (Gary) of Independence; two sisters Karen Williams (Dan) of Ohio, Deborah Divita (Doug) of West Virginia; 1 brother Terry Allen Cottrell (Gail) of Florida; 4 grandchildren Brooke Cottrell, Courtney and John Austin Pittman, and Lacy Pierceall.
