Martha Lea Cox

Martha Lea (Lawson) Cox, 83 years old of Independence, MO made her final journey on January 2, 2022.

Martha was born August 11, 1938 in Brighton, MO to James & Jewel (Blackburn) Lawson. Martha was the baby sister to three siblings.

At the age of 11 she met her future husband Ralph Cox when his family moved close to her family farm. Needless to say her Mama and Daddy were not too happy when she came home and told them that she was going to marry that young man. Six years later they were wed on July 23, 1955 in Independence, MO. Five years later they had their only child Kathy Lynn. Ralph and Martha were married close to 51 years before his passing in 2006.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, Everett Lawson, Ruth Cox and Lucille Sopok, two sons in law, William McCarty and Daniel Marsh Sr. and one great grandchild Olivia Lea Wood.

Martha is survived by her daughter Kathy Doll (Mike) of Lee's Summit, MO, her grandchildren, Nikki McCormick (Darryl), Stacy Wood (Tom), Brian McCarty (Mandy), Rhondalyn Smith(Glen), Sherri Schroeder, Sheila Harper(Jason), Daniel Marsh Jr., Aaron Doll(Gina) and Jacoba Doll-Knight, grandchildren by heart Rachel Ganuguntla (Ravi), Joshua Bond (Stephanie), Shannon Volk (Danny), Jessica Blankenship (John), and Bruce Trent (Gina), 18 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great-Great Grandchildren with one on the way, many nieces and nephews,and Brother in Law, Kenneth Cox (Sandy), and Daughter by heart Randie (Denny) Bowen .
