Eleanor Ann Crabbe Gaffey, 90, Independence, MO formerly of Dickinson, TX passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
Eleanor was born March 8, 1923 in Pittsburg, PA the daughter of Timothy M. and Francis A. (Mahoney) Donovan. She attended business school in Pittsburg, PA before moving to Independence, MO in 1948. Eleanor later moved to Dickinson, TX in 1969 before returning to Independence, MO in 2006. She was employed as a secretary with the Independence Police Department, and became a decorator for Jennings in Independence and later in Texas at Blacks Carriage House. Eleanor was an active member in of Shrine of the True Cross while in Texas and with Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Independence. She was a long time member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Eleanor married William G. Crabbe in 1944, he preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Edward W. Gaffey in 1979; he preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; and her parents. Survivors include her children, Dianne L. Roberts and her husband Phillip, Bill P. Crabbe and wife Cheryl, Susan M. Atha, Mark D. Crabbe and wife Justine; ten grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and additional nieces, nephews and family.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055, with a rosary said at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dickinson, TX on Saturday, September 21, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to John Knox Village Hospice.
