Rita E. Craft, 94, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014. A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 22nd at Carson Speaks Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23rd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Independence, MO. Inurnment will be at Park Lawn Memory Gardens, Brookfield, MO. Rita was born February 12, 1920 on the farm in Wheeling, MO to John J. and Manerva (Blair) Cummings. After school she married Lester M. Craft on December 24, 1940. Together they raised two daughters. In retirement they enjoyed travel, especially to their friends in Texas. Rita worked for many years as a baker for the Independence schools. She enjoyed working with her hands in the garden or baking, reading, and ballroom dancing with her husband. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and active participant in their Altar and Rosary Societies. She leaves behind daughters Rita Hunter, of Independence, MO; and Pattie Peterson of Fresno, CA; grandchildren, Jarrod Boul, Julie Worden, and Mary Stoner; great grandchildren, Tanner and Makenna Boul, Burl and Amanda Worden, Joshua and Jamie Hazelrigg; sisters, Viola Young and Donna Davis; and sister-in-law, Eva Giese.
