Craig Scott Horton, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, was born on November 30, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away far too soon on February 3, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Craig dedicated nearly 25 years of his life to a proud career at AT&T as a member of Local Union CWA 6360. Those who had the privilege to work alongside him will remember his fun and outgoing personality, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a good laugh. His zest for life extended beyond his career. Craig had a remarkable talent for woodworking, creating rocking chairs for his nieces and outdoor seating for friends and family. Craig was affectionately dubbed the "king of homemade ice cream", leaving everyone with smiles and satisfied taste buds.
He graduated from Fort Osage High School in the class of 1987 before continuing his journey to earn a bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University. He cherished learning and instilled this value in those around him.
Craig's proudest accomplishments were always rooted in his love for family. He adored being an uncle, forming close relationships with his nieces, Savannah and Kylie and took great joy in being a supportive figure in their lives while teasing them every chance he got. He treasured his family and dear friends who filled his life with warmth and joy. Craig was always there whenever you needed him.
Craig is survived by his mother, Janet Horton; brother, Kevin (Sarah) Horton; nieces, Savannah and Kylie Horton; extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, George W. Horton; grandparents, Ray and Beulah Dennis, John and Ruth Beil.
Craig will always be remembered for his warm heart and the laughter he brought into the lives of others. A visitation will take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri, on February 6, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on February 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Craig will then be laid to rest at Salem Cemetery in Independence, following funeral services.
