Jeanne Craig, 96, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, January 26, 2018. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the chapel. Interment will take place at Glensted Cemetery in Glensted, MO.
Jeanne was born on April 16, 1921 in Glensted to William Richard and Bonnie B. (Sparks) Morris. She worked several jobs after high school, including being a licensed real estate agent. Job changes brought her to the Independence area where she began work at the Bamboo Hut Restaurant and Lounge. Eventually she bought the Bamboo Hut and continued to own and operate it for over 30 years. In her spare time she loved to garden, be outdoors, socialize and entertain guests. Jeanne was a lot of fun and will be remembered fondly by many.
Her survivors include her sons Reggie C. Giffin (Ellen) of North Kansas City, MO, Roger D. Giffin of Orlando, FL, Charles R. Craig Jr. (Susan) of Independence, MO; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren; plus many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Robert Craig, Sr., son Douglas Giffin, and her 10 siblings.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Glensted Cemetery.
