Rose M. Crank, 90, of Independence, MO passed away on November 9, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, at the First Baptist Church of Independence, 500 W. Truman Road. The service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church. A separate graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, Missouri. Rose was born on May 7, 1917 in Sharon, near Slater, MO, to John Edward and Jessie Mae (Elliott) Clements. She grew up on a farm in the Slater area and attended Slater High School. In 1937, she married Robert E. Crank of Marshall, MO. During the war in 1942, they moved to Independence where Rose worked at an aircraft factory and Robert at Lake City Arsenal. She worked for many years in the Boy’s Department of the AJ Bunchu Department Store and it’s succeeding owner, EBT and Macy’s. She was also employed by Knoepkers on the Independence Square until it closed. Rose was a past president of the Christian Ott Elementary School PTA from 1949-1951. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Independence since 1942, where she was very active and volunteered many hours of service. Her last five years were spent living with her son Ron, and his wife Priscilla of Independence. Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert E. Crank, in 1991; three sisters, Mildred (Dutch) Page of Slater, Ina Mae Halsey and Martha Sue Spivey of Independence; three brothers, Claude Edward, Ervin John and Robert Clements of the rural Slater area. She is survived by three sons, Ron E. Crank and wife Priscilla, Don D. Crank and wife Cathy, and Greg A. Crank; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
