Eva Marcella Crawford "Marcy" passed peacefully in her home while surrounded by loved ones in March 4, 2006. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Independence. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Marcella was born January 30, 1921 in Fayette, Missouri to Eva and Fay Christner. Marcella was an active lifelong member of First Christian Church of Independence where she has been blessed with many wonderful friends. Marcella was married for 47 years to her hometown sweetheart, Ira B. Crawford, Jr. who preceded her in death in June 1987. She enjoyed retirement life with her 11 year companion, Fred Burns, Sr. who also preceded her in death in September, 2004. Marcella retired from the Independence Schools where she was much respected as Secretary to the Board of Education. She was known for her sweet smile and enduring sense of humor. Marcy enjoyed playing golf, gardening and playing cards and games. She dearly loved her family, friends and dog Toby. Marcella was survived by; 2 daughters, Sharon Borchardt and her husband Dennis of Lake Dunmore, VT and Pam Gibson of Independence, MO; 3 grandchildren, Charles Gibson of Independence, MO, Kimberly Taylor of Scottsdale, AZ and Lisa Borchardt of Princeton, NJ; 2 great grandchildren, Sloane Taylor and Owen Taylor of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as special friends of the family, Fred Burns, Jr., Guy Burns, Raven Oddo and Linda McQuillan.
