Shirley Ann Crawford (Gorman)

Shirley Ann Crawford, 89, of Kansas City MO, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 E 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64137. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am before Mass at the church. A private burial service will be held at a later date. Shirley was born on July 17, 1930, in Kansas City, MO. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Name Catholic Church Kansas City, MO. After graduating from Central High School she worked as a telephone switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell. She later returned to work and after several years retired from the Kansas City IRS tax return processing center. On March 31, 1951, she married Eugene “Gene” B. Crawford who preceded her in death on February 3, 2005. They raised four sons, Mark, Matthew, Brian, and Dennis.
Shirley loved raising her children and each one knew her love in their own way. Her passion in life was her husband Gene. They loved to travel after his retirement in 1983 and were inseparable. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church enjoying church and social activities with her parish friends. After Gene’s passing, she continued to be involved with I.B.E.W. Local #124, Pearl Harbor Survivors, and the Marine Corps League as each kindly made sure she was included in their activities. In addition to Gene, she is preceded in death by Dennis’ wife Peggy and their daughter Jennifer. Shirley is survived by her sons Mark and wife Alicia and Matt all of Kansas City, MO; Brian and wife Carol of Raytown, MO; Dennis and wife Marsha of Kitty Hawk, NC; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
