Evelyn L. Crites

Evelyn L. Crites, 80, of Independence, MO passed away May 19, 2005 at her home. Services will be 2:00 pm Monday, May 23, 2005 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be 2-4:00 pm Sunday in the chapel. Burial will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or Cancer Action. Evelyn was born February 25, 1925 in Greenville, SC to Silas and Mary (McAllister) Hyde. Mrs. Crites loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her roses. Evelyn is also known for her shopping skills. Mrs. Crites is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul Crites of the home; son Gene and wife Barbara Decker of Olathe, KS, daughter Debby and husband Tom Swackhamer of Flower Mound, TX, son Lynn and wife Connie Crites of Flower Mound, TX, daughter Linda Whitmore of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Jennifer Taylor, Diane and husband Andy Hawkins, Elizabeth and Robert Swackhamer, Matthew and Christine Crites; great-grandchildren Zachary and Justin Hawkins; brothers John and Paul Hyde, sisters Mary Fortner, Hazel Boyer and Becky Mann. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Martha Eskew.
