LaJuana Crocker, 72, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, September 21, 2018,
peacefully at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Carson Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A memorial service will be held at 6:30pm on Saturday, October 3, 2018 at Liberty Street Community of Christ.
LaJuana was born on June 1, 1946 to Cornelius “Bus” and Emma (Holsworth) Bridges.
She was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO where she attended Liberty Street Community of Christ Church and served as a Deacon.
She dedicated her life to family, church and youth. She was camp director for Oriole Camp, lead the Girls Program at her church, and was Den Mother for Pack 233 while her son was in Scouts. LaJuana was a lifetime member of the PTA, served as President of the Music Boosters at Truman High School as well as chairman of Project Graduation and helped with many other organizations. She never missed a performance by one of her kids, even if it meant driving to Warrensburg or anywhere it might be.
She loved her family! Holidays were meant to be celebrated and she made sure family always gathered, whether it was Christmas, 4th of July or Memorial Day. She loved camping and her favorite place in recent years was Watkins Mill State Park.
She will be greatly missed by husband and soulmate of 50 years, Roy Crocker of Independence;
son Neil Crocker of Independence and wife Shanna; daughter Debbie Elwood of Kearney; grandchildren: Daniel Best and wife Beth, Rebeca Vogel and husband Matt, Chandler Coon and fiancé Bethany, Tufton Coon and De’Aira, LaKeisha Beddow, Ryan Elwood, Alex Elwood, Monroe Crocker; great-grandchildren Braiden, Cecelia, Calliope, Blaze, Delilah, Axel, Adara, Jaxon.
She was preceded in death by parents, brother Don Bridges and sister Karen Conner.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Campership Fund at Liberty Street Community of Christ.
