Marvin R. Croft, 79, of Kansas City, Mo. died June 13, 2006 at his home. Mr. Croft will lie in state at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence on Friday from 7-9 P.M where the family will receive friends. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. at Mound Grove Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post #21. He was born on August 18, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Raymond and Bernice Horne Croft. He attended Carlyle Elementary and was a graduate of Northeast High School. He enjoyed making crafts out of barn wood. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the USS Clinton during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #21, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Eagles Lodge #3717. Marvin was an avid sport enthusiast and enjoyed following the Yankees and playing golf. He served as the Athletic Director for the American Legion Baseball Program. He was retired from C & C Carpet Service which he owned and operated. In 1948 he married Arneita Smith, she preceded him in death on February 15, 1993. He is survived by two sons: Lynn Croft and his wife Kathy of Lake Lotawana, Mo., and Kenneth Croft and his wife Vicki of Independence; a sister, Jean Trisler and her husband Ross of Independence, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
