Jimmie Cross 87, of Independence, MO passed away September 5, 2017. Visitation will be for 1-1:30 on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 pm at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. Jimmie was born on December 6, 1929 in Camden County, MO to Curtis and Flossie (McGuire) Cross. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1947. Jimmie was a long time member of Bannister Ridge Community of Christ church, and was always very active. In 1948 Jimmie went to work with Walnut Motors. The company changed hands several times over the years, finally became New Plaza Pontiac when he retired in 1989. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Norma Jane Crowell, she preceded him in death after 65 wonderful years of marriage. Jimmie’s greatest passion in life was that of his family and playing music. Jimmie started playing the guitar at young age and enjoyed playing throughout his life! Jimmie and Norma would spend hours on the lake in their boat with their growing family, teaching all who wanted to learn to ski. Jimmie enjoyed their life after retirement, traveling to 42 States. Survivors include; sons Mike Cross, Richard Cross, and Jim Cross Hubbard; daughters Randie Cross Marsh (William) and Carlena Cross Coleman (Steve) 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Lois Hunter, Doris Ives, Vicki Barber, and Betty Kay; many friends and a large extended family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association in Jimmie’s honor.
