Mildred Florence Croucher, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 7-9:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made to Summit Grove Community of Christ Church. Mildred was born April 13, 1925 in Kansas City, MO and was adopted and raised by Irwin and Mattie Irene (Peer) Hartley and has been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Grain Valley High School and attended Central Business College. She had worked for the City of Independence Water Department for 34 years from 1949-64 and again from 1971-90, when she retired. Mrs. Croucher loved her family, her church and her community, volunteering at the Community of Christ Temple, Meals on wheels, Community Service League and was a former president of the PTA for Randall elementary School. She was a member of the Summit Grove Community of Christ where she served as a teacher and church historian. She married George R. Croucher in January 18, 1957; he survives her of the home. Other survivors include; 2 sons, Brian A. Croucher and his wife Shawna of Independence and Michael Croucher, Sr. and his wife Margaret of Atlanta, MO; a foster daughter, Daisy Davis of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Croucher, Whitney Croucher, Sydney Croucher, Michael Croucher, Jr., John Croucher, Trisha Dean and Amy Rufener; 3 step grandchildren, Laurie Kroenke, Brent Austin and Brad Austin and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Austin in 1989.
