William Edwin Crowl, 76 of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, November 1, 2013 at his residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the Kansas City Central Office of Alcoholics Anonymous. William was born January 14, 1937 in Independence, MO to Edwin and Martha (Higgins) Crowl and has been a lifelong area resident, graduating from Northeast High School in 1955. He had worked for GM for 32 years until he retired in 1999 as foreman of the paint dept. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and was a nature lover who enjoyed spending time at his lake house. He was an active member of AA having over 30 years of sobriety. He was married to Gaye (Walker) who preceded him in death on October 31, 2007. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Janie Blood and Cathy Smith; a son, Bill Crowl and his wife Sandy; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Eddie Crowl, a daughter, Diane Keefer in 2009 and a brother, David Crowl.
