Donald “Gene” Crown
August 18,1933 – May 20, 2023
Gene was born in Eldon, Missouri, to Alvin and Ross Crown. He attended and graduated from Eldon High School, and after graduation he moved to Kansas City to begin his career at Armco Steel, where he would work for the next 32 years. He was drafted into the Army and met the love of his life, Anita Belle House, in San Saba, Texas. Soon after, they married, and from their union they welcomed five children.
Gene enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends throughout the years. He loved woodworking and building projects; he was well versed and very skilled in each. Gene was fortunate enough to retire from his career at the age of 49, giving him many enjoyable years with his wife and family. Gene also devoted his life to Jesus, serving as a deacon for over 50 years.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 57 beautiful years; Anita, his daughter; Vickie Lanita, his parents; Alvin and Ross Crown, his siblings; JoAnn VanWinkle, Jimmy Crown, Eddie Crown, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his children; Michael Crown (Terry) of Independence, Missouri, Randy Crown (Janet) of Girard, Kansas, Cindy Oddo (Mike) of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Debbie Knight (Ernie) of Camdenton, Missouri, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
