Larry Stephen Cunningham, of Independence, MO passed away February 15, 2023. He was 69 years old.
A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Wednesday, February 22nd with a service following at 2pm, both at Crossroads Church in Grain Valley, MO. Interment immediately following at Blue Springs Cemetery.
Larry was born March 22, 1953, in Lincoln, NE, to Donna and Don Cunningham. He was the second oldest of four brothers: Ron Cunningham, Bob Cunningham, and Richard Cunningham. He graduated High School from East High School in Kansas City, MO, in 1971. He married Janet Kay Agan in 1972, and eventually settled in Independence, MO, where they spent most of their life together. Larry worked for the City of Independence as a supervisor of the City Sign and Striping department.
In retirement, Larry became an avid walker and would walk the Little Blue Trace trail in Independence daily, walking 6-8 miles a day. He also loved to bike the trail with his son Chris. He loved to take pictures of the wildlife and share them with family and friends. He and Janet enjoyed searching for old family gravestones from Nebraska to Tennessee and searching for antiques. He enjoyed taking Janet to out-of-town quilting expos—although he would always find a nature trail to enjoy instead of the actual quilting expo. He got great joy from spending time with his three grandchildren Kayla, Jonathan, and Alex Cunningham.
Larry leaves behind his wife Janet, his three brothers Ron, Bob, and Richard Cunningham, his son Christopher Cunningham, daughter-in-law Melissa Cunningham, his three grandchildren, Kayla, Jonathan, and Alex Cunningham, and several cousins, and nieces and nephews.
