James Albert Curry, 87, of Independence, MO, Formerly of Raytown, MO, passed away, Tuesday, December 15, 2004 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2004 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. James was born December 2, 1917 in Kansas City, KS to Albert Michael and Malinda Rose (Burkin) Curry. He graduated from Wyandotte High School class of 1935. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the K-9 Corp at Ft. Robinson NE. He owned and operated Curry�s Sporting Goods in Kansas City, MO. He retired from Hodgdon Powder Company in the late 1970�s. He was a past member of the Pioneer Gun Club, the Studebaker Drivers Club and the Mid-America Packard�s. He was married to Anna Marie Fitzpatrick on October 1, 1938; she passed away after 62 years of marriage on March 12, 2001. Survivors include a daughter Patricia Ann and son-in-law Thomas William Schmidt of Independence, MO; a brother, Albert Michael Curry, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Sacramento, CA; Brother-in-law Capt. Joe Moran of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law Ruth Davis and husband Cecil of Clovis, NM; a grandson, Steven Michael Schmidt & Courtney Wilson of Portland, OR; granddaughter Jennifer Ann Galler & her husband John of Oak Grove, MO; great grandchildren Jenise Rose Bertoncin, Neia Marie Bertoncin and Oscar Banks Schmidt. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Rosanna Moran and Catherine Corry. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Catholic Communities Hospice, the Groves or the National Parkinson�s Association.
