Michael Cole Curry of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was 74 years old.
Michael was born to Floyd Curry and Eldoris Gagelman in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 3, 1947. He attended East High School and it was there, through a mutual friend, he met the love of his life Teresa McNeill. After graduating in 1965, he attended UCM and attained his bachelors. Michael and Teresa were wed in 1970 and from their union came two children, Brandon and Brett, and Michael fell fast in love all over again when his boys came into the world. Michael was a wonderful hands-on father and was a coach for his boys’ baseball and basketball teams, where he became a father figure to so many more. Michael and Teresa being so kind in heart and spirit, had open their homes to many children over the years providing a safe place and love. Michael was so strong in his faith, always striving to do the Lord’s work. He served on the board of his church and would go on mission trips when he was able, serving the Lord and other’s souls any way he could. When Michael was promoted to grandfather, he once again, fell fast in love. His family was number one in his heart, he was their biggest fans, cheering on at sporting events and offering his support anyway he could. Our world will never be the same but through Michael’s faith, the family has faith as well and his legacy he left will forever in on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife beautiful wife, Teresa (McNeill) Curry; children, Brett (Allison) Curry, Brandon Curry; 6 amazing grandchildren; brother, Clint (Mary Ann) Curry; very beloved nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Margaret Hanger McNeill; and many friends he loved as his own. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Eldoris Curry; and his best friend and father-in-law, Thural McNeill.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at his beloved church, Crown Pointe Church, 5950 NE Lakewood Way, Lee's Summit, MO 64064.
