Edward Michael Curtin, age 92, passed away on March 30th, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Ed was born on August 11, 1930 to William and Edna Curtin in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1949. He married Gloria (Susie) Custis on December 3rd 1949. Susie and Ed went on to have 3 children, Michael, Patricia and Mark. He was drafted into the Army in 1949 and served until 1952. He came home and worked for Bentix. Ed was also a member of the Masons and the Shriners. He served as president in the Shriners Warsaw Chapter and was president of the Warsaw Shriners Bingo Hall for many years. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America. He also has a passion for woodworking. Susie and Ed spent years living in Warsaw, MO and spent their winters in Benson, AZ working as campground hosts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna, his brother, James Curtin and his wife, Gloria Curtin.
He is survived by his 3 children, Michael Curtin (Colleen) of Hollister, MO, Patricia Michalski (Steve) of Independence, MO, Mark Curtin (Ava) of Denton, TX; his grandchildren, Julie Curtin, Travis Curtin, Nikki Curtin, Mark 2nd (Eddie) Curtin, and Aubrey Swank; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence MO on Wednesday, April 5th followed by graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Garden. Visitation is from 10-11am. Service will follow at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Abel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
