Lona Curtis

Lona H. Curtis, 93, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday July 1, 2004 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday July 6, 2004 at Geo. C. Carson and Sons funeral home. Visitation will be 6-7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, Mo 64119. Lona was born December 3, 1910 in Chaffee, MO to John and Susannah (Allen) Harrison. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed following local city council meetings. Lona loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens each year. Mrs. Curtis is survived by her daughter Lona Marie Curtis of Las Vegas, NV, daughter and son-in-law JoAnn (Josephine) and Jerry Miller of Huffman, TX, son and daughter-in-law John W. and Mary Curtis of Kearney, MO; grandchildren Sheila Leigh and Danny Barnett, Jerry E. Miller, Jason Perry and Pam Curtis, Aaron William and Sara Curtis; great-grandson Brandon Miller; step great-grandson Michael Loyd; and by many family members and true friends made through the decades past. Lona was preceded in death by her husband Perry in 1965; grandsons Kevin L.Miller and Matthew Allen Curtis.
