Roy Albert Cutsforth, of Kansas City, MO, passed away far too soon on December 21, 2021. He was 67. A visitation will be held from 9-11am with a service following at 11am on Thursday, December 30th, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence.
Roy was born on July 1, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Calvin and Phoebe (Farrar) Cutsforth. He graduated from Truman High School, Class of 1973, and went on to graduate from Central
Missouri State University. Roy was a Police Officer for the Independence Police Department for 37 years, serving as a District Supervisor and Field Training Officer during his tenure. He was lovingly referred to as “Rapid Roy” for the way in which he drove his police cars.
After his retirement from the IPD, he stayed busy. He worked for the Buckner Police Department and also as a Security Officer for the Truman Library. Roy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed building model police cars, listening to talk radio and watching the History Chanel. If you know Roy, you know he loved his dogs, Jack and Tucker. Jack was his constant ride-along companion. Tucker will now be lost without him. So many of Roy’s family and friends will be too.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents and his Labrador, Jack.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Judy; his daughters, Holly (Tim) Moore of Raymore, MO and Lesley Cutsforth (Logan Terry) of Independence, MO; as well as his Labrador/Pit, Tucker. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Independence Police Foundation: K-9 Unit or the Independence Animal Shelter.
