Helen M. Darling, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Sat. Nov 13, 2004 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10 am, Wed. Nov 17, 2004 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 7 - 8:30 pm at the Chapel. Graveside services will 1:30 pm Wed. at Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, MO. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Darling was born May 14, 1916 to Axel and Mathilda Johnson in Minot, ND. She was a wonderful homemaker all her life and loved to cook, travel and do needle work, quilting, painting and other crafts. She had been a member of the Sweet Adeline�s, the White Mask Players, the Waldo Congregation of the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ and had been a volunteer with the Independence Regional Auxiliary. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will greatly be missed. Mrs. Darling was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1988 and by a son, David in 1943. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Vernon and Margie Darling of Oak Grove, MO, Joseph and Sharon Darling of Quincy, FL and Gary and Nancy Darling of Excelsior Springs, MO. Four daughters, Betty Pashon and husband, Leroy of Sterling IL, Loretta Hanson and husband Dan of Independence, MO, Irma Walk of N. Kansas City, MO and Linda K. Smith of N. Kansas City, MO. One brother, Bill Johnson of Minot, ND. Three sisters, Hannah Hanson of Minot ND, Vivian Hagen of Minot, ND and Ethel Hauf of Max, ND. Twenty-eight grandchildren, Fifty-seven great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren.
