Esther Marguerite Daugherty, 97 died Sat. Apr 30, 2006 at the Rosewood Care Center, at the Groves in Independence, MO where she had resided since August of 2004. Services will be 11:00 am, Fri. May 5, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Indep. MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Burial in Md Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Butler Education Fund c/o Butler Restoration Branch, PO Box 432, Butler, MO 64730. Mrs. Daugherty was born on March 3, 1909 in Holdenville, OK. She was one of nine children born to Bessie Mae (Saul) Sheppard and Charles Thomas Sheppard. She graduated from High School in Tulsa, OK in 1926. She worked as a Hair Dresser and beautician in Joplin, MO where she met her husband to be, James Charles Daugherty. They were married on September 20, 1936. Three children were born to this union; two sons, James Harlin Daugherty of Adrian, MO and Charles Thomas Daugherty of Wylie, TX; and one daughter, Margaret Ann Ward of Wellington, MO. Marguerite followed her Missionary husband to many parts of the country including the Hawaiian Islands where he served as a Seventy of the RLDS Church. She had many interests and hobbies, which she pursued until very late in life, including quilting, sewing, painting, gardening and reading. Her many beautiful paintings are now in homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers and her husband who died in 1974. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Robert Glenn Sheppard of Smith Center, KS and a sister Maxine Sheppard Bowman of Lawrence, KS; her 3 children, 2 daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 17 nieces and nephews and a host of friend
